The Washington Nationals are hosting NATS U: Baseball for Women (formerly known as Baseball 101 for Women) on Saturday, June 19 prior to the team’s afternoon matchup against the Chicago White Sox at 4:10 p.m. This interactive event offers ladies ages 15 and up the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of America’s favorite pastime from the experts at the Washington Nationals.

Female fans of all levels can sign up for either the Beginner or Advanced sessions, both of which include a Speakers Series featuring Nationals executives and local baseball experts as well as one-on-one on-field baseball instruction from Nationals coaches.

Registration/Breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. and sessions begin at 9:00 a.m.

Fans may purchase tickets at www.nationals.com/natsu

The $50 package also includes:
o Continental breakfast (mimosas will also be available for purchase)
o Tickets to watch the Nationals take on the Chicago White Sox later that day and option to purchase additional game tickets for friends/family at a discounted price
o Graduation gifts: t-shirt, baseball educational packet, certificate of completion and promotional items

Updated with quotes (via WTOP) from Nats fan and previous participant Carolyn Lantry: "You might pick up some new information about baseball that you didn't know before. You might start to love the game even more," she says. "I think the first time, the most exciting thing was standing on the field, standing in the dugout. Just kind of being at a part of the park that you as a spectator aren't allowed to be," says Lantry.

The event did not take place last year so the last one was Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Here are a few photos from the fantastic day.
