Washington Nationals Host Hispanic Heritage Night
The Washington Nationals will honor the contributions of the Hispanic community to baseball and society in general when they host Hispanic Heritage Night during their game against the Florida Marlins on Friday, September 10. Buy special tickets here.
Numerous representatives from the Hispanic community have been invited to participate in the night’s festivities, including Washington Nationals Opera tenor José Ortega, who will sing the National Anthem, and El Zol 99.1FM’s Pedro Biaggi from “Pedro Biaggi en la Manana”, who will make the “Play Ball!” Announcement. The Starting 9 and Ceremonial First Pitch will also feature children from the Latin American Youth Center.
In addition, a special flag ceremony highlighting each of the Nationals’ Hispanic players will take place on the field during the pregame ceremonies. The flags of Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will all be featured as homage to the players’ Hispanic roots.

Additional highlights of the evening’s festivities include:
o Hispanic dancers will perform in Center Field Plaza
o Salsa lessons will take place at the Miller Lite Scoreboard Walk
o Hispanic-themed menus will be offered in the PNC Diamond Club and Red Porch Restaurant
o Hispanic music will play throughout the game
o Select PA announcements will be done in Spanish
o Various video tributes and vignettes will be shown on NatsHD featuring Hispanic baseball greats Juan Marichal, Martin Dihigo, Rod Carew, Luis Aparicio and Orlando Cepeda
