Video: Harper Homers and Blows Kiss to Pitcher

Posted by Cheryl Nichols | 6/06/2011 11:14:00 PM | , , , | 9 comments »

Bryce Harper was hit by a pitch in his first at bat yesterday, Sunday, June 5, 2011 and left the game. The Hagerstown Suns hosted the Greensboro Grasshoppers again tonight and Harper was back in the lineup.

Bryce blasted a homer in the sixth inning and between third and home plate, blows a kiss at the pitcher. That type of behavior will only cause more HBP. Please stay classy and sportsmanlike Bryce.

Looks like he stood and watched it for quite a while (guessing it was well fair and not hugging the line) and the pitcher was jawing at him as he rounded the bases....not good.

pretty classless. This team has been my favorite for nearly 10 years now (since MTL days) and I dont remember anyone in the minors being this cocky and arrogant. I dont like it. This is what happens when some little punk puts on a nice face in interviews and then when he hits the field he turns into an ass. This is why there should be an age minimum to the draft and minor leagues. Maturation pays off in a big way

I'm sure he'll be talked to about this. He needs to learn that everything he does on the field, no matter how remote the minor league outpost is, will make its way onto youtube.

Every pitcher wants to beat Harper and I am sure the pitcher was jawing out him...he probably thought blowing a kiss was the least offensive thing he could do...BUT...better yet, he should just round the bases quickly and return to the dugout...opposing teams will always use this arrogance against him if he lets them.

Stupid move on his part but he is the best player in all the minors and on this pace he will be in the majors by the age 20. So as a fan all I can say is start to deal with it because this happens all the time. Not the blowing of the kiss, but the watching and taunting on homeruns. It happens alot and if this team has hit him a few times he probably had a lot of emotions running through him.

Next time Bryce keep your head up and just round them bases and remember you may be one of the greatest players to play in th bigs in the past 30 years if you just play the game like you have!

Good Luck to Bryce and the Nats as I am not a Nationals fan but love to see the local teams do well!

It's a game. Let them talk junk to each other. If you have ever played a sport you know how much of this actually goes on! No big deal. I think it's great!

I love it too!! Nothing wrong with feeling good enough about an accomplishment to shower others with affection!!!
