The first day of the Nats Winter Caravan was busy. If you happened to be chatting live with Nats owner Mark Lerner or visiting with a few players, Rob Dibble and Jim Riggleman at Hard Times Cafe, you probably missed Nyjer Morgan on The Sports Fix with Kevin Sheehan and Thom Loverro at 1:20 p.m. on ESPN 980AM.
You can listen to the nine minute interview here:
Nyjer Morgan on The Sports Fix
Nyjer Morgan's enthusiasm is one of the reasons that he became an instant fan favorite after being traded to Washington from Pittsburgh in June. His voice is full of energy and excitement for the 2010 season. Morgan is already in Viera, Florida working out along with fellow Nats Matt Chico, Jason Bergmann and Ross Detwiler.
"We're going to be ready this year...hope guys jump on board and get ready for this fun little cool train ride."
Morgan arrives in DC to participate in the Nats Winter Caravan and Natsfest from Friday-Sunday, January 29-31. He is looking forward to watching the Washington Capitals play on Friday night and plans to wear his Number 8 Alex Ovechkin Caps jersey to the game. Nyjer is a big hockey fan and became hooked on hockey while he watched the Winter Olympics in Calgary on TV. Morgan remains loyal to his San Jose Sharks, but the Caps are second.
Morgan left home at age 16 to play junior hockey for four years and reached the Western Hockey League (WHL) level. He played seven games as a forward for the Regina Pats in 1999-2000 and scored two goals, both in his first game.

Nyjer Morgan broke his hand in August and Nats fans are looking forward to seeing him and his alter-ego "Tony Plush" back on the field in 2010.
