Update to post about Dmitri Young in Trouble Again.....

Dmitri Young says that he was smoking marijuana to alleviate aches and pains from his playing days and for his Type 2 diabetes.

The owner of the Oakland County Cruisers independent baseball club's, Diamond Heroes, is backing Young.

"With 13 seasons of Major League baseball and six more years in the minors, Dmitri Young has had more than his share of bumps and bruises — to his knees and back — as well as his well-documented fight with Type II diabetes,” said Diamond Heroes President and CEO Rob Hilliard, in a statement. “While we believe Dmitri could have exercised better judgment in this situation, we have been speaking with his physician and are beginning to have a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding his health.”

"Before the season began, we made arrangements for Dmitri to spend pockets of time with his children in Fort Lauderdale,” Hilliard said. “To minimize the impact of Dmitri’s absence, we planned these times round our days off ... and during the Frontier League All-Star break. We never imagined — particularly given all of our away games — that we would be in first place and have our field staff earn the honor of coaching in the All-Star game.”
