WASHINGTON NATIONALS TEAM UP WITH MICROSOFT AND THE USO
FOR A SALUTE TO OUR TROOPS
In honor of US military members, Microsoft and the USO have partnered with the Nationals to host A Salute to Our Troops this Sunday, July 11.
The event kicks off with a USO Care Package Party beginning at 9:30am in the Nationals Park Conference Center, where more than 125 volunteers will spend two hours assembling care packages for local military families. Nationals pitcher Matt Capps and outfielder Josh Willingham will also stop by to participate beginning at 10:45am.
The volunteers will then head to the Rooftop Party Deck to join more than 250 special guests, including wounded warriors, for a private BBQ reception before the Nationals 1:35pm start against San Francisco.
A Salute to Our Troops is a national program honoring the many faces of courage and inspiration belonging to individuals who demonstrate selfless dedication to our country. The program, founded in 2007 by Microsoft in cooperation with the USO of Metropolitan New York and USO of Metropolitan Washington D.C., is dedicated to thanking our service men and women and their families. A Salute to Our Troops is one of the many ways Microsoft supports our troops, our local communities and their families. In 2009, Microsoft was honored with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
