BACKGROUND:

A Salute to Our Troops is a national program honoring the many faces of courage and inspiration belonging to individuals who demonstrate selfless dedication to our country. The program, founded in 2007 by Microsoft in cooperation with the USO of Metropolitan New York and USO of Metropolitan Washington D.C., is dedicated to thanking our service men and women and their families. A Salute to Our Troops is one of the many ways Microsoft supports our troops, our local communities and their families. In 2009, Microsoft was honored with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
