Nationals Press Release:
The Washington Nationals will host the 2011 NatsFest on Wednesday, March 30 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. rain or shine. The annual fan appreciation festival will be held the day before Opening Day and features plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for fans of all ages.
In the event of inclement weather, the Meet and Greet opportunity with Nationals players and coaches will be held along the covered area on the concourse level of the ballpark, while registration for Race the Racing Presidents will continue, though the actual race will take place at a later date. Additional activities will be re-located indoors as necessary. For a complete list of events, please see the attached release.
Gates open to the general public at 4:00 p.m. and the first 5,000 fans will receive a free curly “W” slingbag. Nationals season ticket holders will have exclusive access to a Q&A session featuring Nationals players, coaches and executives beginning at 3:30 p.m. and must bring their NatsFest tickets (located in their season ticket book) to gain early entry into Nationals Park starting at 3:00 p.m.
Tickets for this year’s NatsFest cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation. I was told by the front office that autographs are verboten. ( I was also told that there have never been autograph signings at Nats Fests past, so I must have been dreaming that my kid walked away with a ball signed by Pudge last year). I can only imagine what this will degenerate into. If they break 2,000 fans on a day where it will be 40 and rainy, it will be a miracle.
Natsfest 2011 total bust.....front office must not have been here years past. I have a Jersey filled with autographs from both 2009 &2010. This year its all about the season ticket holders. Last I looked around we are all fans! My family has been looking forward to this all year and we are leaving very disappointed!!!!

Thanks for sharing your disappointment. Have you submitted a comment to the Nationals yet? If not, I recommend that you provide the Nats with feedback too. This year was different from previous years so it is a good time to speak up before the event is simply repeated next year.
Mark-
I'm very surprised by what the front office told you. That really would only apply to Ryan Zimmerman as he can't sign autographs at events, but can pose for photos.
I had posted several links to the photos from 2010 Nats Caravan and NatsFest which are full of autograph signing pictures. http://natsnewsnetworkoffthefield.blogspot.com/2011/02/2011-nats-fanfest-is-march-30.html
