HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns will be represented by five players named to the Northern Division squad for the 52nd annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game on June 21, 2011 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md. The Suns tied with the Lakewood BlueClaws for the team-high number of representatives.
Outfielder Bryce Harper, infielder Blake Kelso and catcher David Freitas have been selected as starters for the contest. Harper received more votes than any other player in the league and will be playing right field. Kelso will start at third base, and Freitas will catch. Pitchers Taylor Jordan and Chris Manno will also be on the roster.
Catcher David Freitas
Harper is currently hitting .342 with a league-leading 14 home runs, 14 doubles, 42 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Kelso holds a .344 mark, the fifth highest in the league, with two home runs, 12 doubles, one triple and 30 RBIs. He has also stolen nine bases. Freitas carries a .295 average with six home runs, 14 doubles and 39 RBIs.
Outfielder Bryce Harper
Jordan boasts a 6-1 record in 11 appearances, 10 starts, this season. He has a 2.48 ERA in 54 and one-thirds innings, allowing 52 hits and 12 walks while striking out 32. Manno holds a 1-2 record and seven saves in 20 relief appearances. He has surrendered just one earned run in 27 innings this year, a 0.33 ERA. The lefty has allowed nine hits and 10 walks, striking out 44.
Suns manager Brian Daubach will skipper the Northern Division All-Star squad, and he will be assisted by Hagerstown's pitching coach, Chris Michalak. Each team will be comprised of 26 players who were selected by votes from the team's managers and coaching staffs, local media and front office executives.

    What's really curious is who did not make the SAL All-Star Team: Suns P Robbie Ray, whose line is 2-0, 6 G, 12 H, 2 R 1 ER, 8 BB and 32 SO. He has been dominant, but no All-Star nod?
