The Potomac Nationals will host their annual Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Auction Sunday, January 30 at the Hilton Springfield. For just $40, fans can enjoy a cocktail hour beginning at 5:30, a plated dinner and a full program with a keynote speaker that will be announced shortly. The evening will also feature a Silent Auction benefiting S.P.A.R.K. (Supporting Partnerships and Resources for Kids), formerly known as the Prince William County Public Schools Education Foundation.
Past keynote speakers have included Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo, Nats president Stan Kasten, and Washington Senators great Frank Howard. The P-Nats are also proud to host a prominent player from the 2010 Carolina League Champions; they will announce the Fan of the Year and the High School baseball and softball players of the year.
As part of their ongoing efforts to support education and the local community, the Nationals will contribute all proceeds from the silent auction to S.P.A.R.K. The auction will feature memorabilia from all sports and professional teams around the country, as well as signed Nationals memorabilia. The auction will also include vacation packages, the opportunity to be GM for a day at a P-Nats home game in 2011, and much more. The silent auction will run from 5:30 until 7:45, while the Dinner and Program get underway at 6:30.
"We are so pleased to be working with Sharon Henry and S.P.A.R.K again this year," said Nationals Team President and COO Lani Silber Weiss. "S.P.A.R.K. provides funding through grants which enhance not only the classroom experience, but other initiatives including programs that increase parental involvement and provide support for families for whom English is not their first language. S.P.A.R.K. has an extremely active Board of Directors made up of representatives from area businesses and is dedicated to furthering these initiatives through their innovative grants program. Supporting our public schools is a main focus of our team's community involvement."

Pretty impressive that Syracuse, Harrisburg, and Potomac can all pull together a Hot Stove Luncheon. Must be pretty challenging to organize for smaller organizations- in light of the fact that the larger parent organization can't pull it together. Maybe Riggleman was overbooked after being signed up for Syr and Har, and thus didn't have time to do Nats FanFest-- so the Nats had to cancel.
