Brad Peacock Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Year
First Senators pitcher to win the award in 18 seasons
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators are pleased to announce that RH Brad Peacock has been named the 2011 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year. Peacock is the second Senators' pitcher to earn the honor, and the first in 18 seasons. Joey Eischen won the award after the 1993 season.
Peacock is currently 14-3 this season with a 2.48 ERA and is tied for second in wins in the minor leagues. He is also sixth in the minor leagues in strikeouts with 170. Peacock began the season in Harrisburg, where he led team with a 10-2 record and posted a 2.01 ERA in 16 appearances. In eight consecutive starts, from April 17 through May 25, he won seven decisions. He was promoted to the Syracuse Chiefs on July 14, where he has a 4-1 record with a 3.56 ERA.
His outstanding season has earned Peacock numerous awards. He won the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week award twice. In July, he pitched in the XM All-Star Futures Game, where he pitched one inning, allowing no hits, and struck out one. He was also chosen as an Eastern League midseason and postseason All-Star. The 23-year old was selected in the 41st round of the 2006 draft by the Washington Nationals.
